We have been called to be lights in this world, a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ.  God has a purpose and a plan for our lives!  In order to find and fulfill it, we must renew our minds with God's Word. (Romans 12:2).  By increasing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, we will become more like Him and be able to change our world according to His will.

As God made us in His image, we each received a spirit that holds the key to our life, has communion with God, and is an actual part of our humanity by design. That was our first blessing. We have since chased the blessing that was ours from the garden. People talk about it, but nobody seems to know enough about it. Everyone wants it but so few actually experience it. The world poisons men with substitutes & look-a-likes, then offers it for our deadly consumption. Most miss the warning label and eat to their demise. This course will identify, separate and examine the path God’s scripture unfolds to the blessing as we stride toward eternity. The blessing is hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless, and power to the powerless. Walk with us as we break down the strongholds and repossess what was always ours. Be with us as we train ourselves no longer to chase after, but to be set free by the Son to receive. Join with us in our revolution as we pursue God’s will on Earth as it is in Heaven. This is a class offering guidance and instruction to all believers, including those who have recently accepted the Lord. It is designed to help build your life in Christ on a firm foundation.

How did we get the Bible?  What versions of Scripture are the most reliable?  What is inerrancy?  Who decided which books would be included in the Bible?  Why do we say the Bible is inspired?  Is the Bible relevant for me today?  What does the Bible have to do with a Christian worldview? These and many more questions will be discussed this semester as we discover how the Bible has been passed on from generation to generation and why it is relevant for us today.

New-born Christians are often directed to start their spiritual journeys by reading the Gospel of John. Why? John, “the disciple whom Jesus loved,” tells us why: “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.” John’s writes from a viewpoint intentionally different from those of the other three Gospel writers and includes additional accounts and information that round out the Gospel story. It wins news souls to Christ and at the same time builds up mature believers to win converts.

You’re Covered. The Biblical Foundation for a Christian Marriage. The biblical principle of covering extends from Genesis to Revelation. In this class both the married and unmarried alike will understand the safety of walking in God’s covering principle. We will study the Song of Solomon and the sanctity of the marriage as God spreads His covering over the intimacy a couple shares. In a day when roles and relationships seem to be legislated rather than biblically declared, this class will give you an understanding of the biblical place of safety under the covering of your church and your marriage. At the end of this class you will understand how God sees your marriage as the physical manifestation of Christ’s love for the church. Now that’s exciting! Come and discover the difference between having a prayer life and really living a praying life. There is a difference and it’s more than a play on words. It involves an exciting change in your approach and appreciation of prayer. A whole new adventure in prayer will be discovered and experienced. This course is a video series taught by Jennifer Kennedy Dean. We will be learning about: The Purpose of Prayer – What is prayer and why we pray; The Process of Prayer – waiting on God and learning to hear from God; The Promise of Prayer – why faith and obedience is required and what it means to pray with authority; The Practice of Prayer – practical disciplines that will help develop a rich praying life. Join us as we discover the adventure of experiencing a praying life. Live a Praying Life workbook is required – cost is $10.

Across the world our brothers and sisters are going through such difficult times because of their faith in Jesus.  In this class we will see various places where Christians are meeting in spite of the threat of persecution.  We will also spend time praying for these dear people.

Worship is not a song we sing; it is the life we live. This class will focus on three areas: the attitude of worship, principles of praise, and the power of prayer.

Crossroads for ages 18—25; “For a fresh look at how to live for Christ.”

This class is for students 9th-12th grade who feel called of God to be leaders and desire to grow in their influence. Each week the group will be taught a different leadership topic. The class will then engage in dialogue about how the leadership principles can be applied and lived out in a Christ-like way in the various spheres of influence students find themselves.

Students gather together for a time of fellowship and discussion of relevant topics pertaining to life and faith.

This class is designed to be a tool for parents to ensure that their upper elementary children (grades 4-6) understand the basic foundational doctrines of our faith. The class is offered to parents to invite their children to attend with them when parents think their children are ready to establish some of these important issues in their own spiritual journey. Topics: salvation, water baptism, communion, discipleship and the Holy Spirit. Kids who would like to be baptized or are interested in participating in communion are strongly encouraged to take this class, with a parent, to help answer any questions they may have about these doctrines.

Focus on the Families “The Truth Project” is a DVD / Small Group based experience with its focus on exposing the worldly lies we unknowingly believe and declaring God’s truth’s through a Biblical Worldview.  Transformation of the heart into the image of Christ is the core goal of this powerful and potential life-changing series.  We believe this one project represents the possibility for exponential change within the body of Christ, as we expect many will be transformed by this curriculum.  As it has been throughout history, God continues to call ordinary people to make an eternal difference in our world.

Who says you can’t have meaningful fellowship in a large church?  Renovation of the Heart focuses on allowing Christ to be fully developed in our lives while providing an excellent opportunity to form relationships within our congregation. These small group sessions, open to everyone but particularly great for newcomers to SGT, highlights Scripture and the writings of various Christian authors. This semester we will look closely at the life of David.

This program is designed to equip us to witness as a way of life, to share our faith in Jesus Christ through personal testimony and a clear presentation of the Gospel and to learn principles in discipling new believers. Pre-registration is required—contact Ed Lewis at 631-979-5187.

Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle desires to see marriages built on a strong foundation of God’s Word and His Truth. All couples desiring to marry are welcome to attend this 10 week video/discussion class. Mentors assist engaged or dating couples to understand God’s plan for building a Christ-centered marriage. Required for couples desiring to be married at SGT. This Christ-centered ministry. which is designed to minister to people grieving the loss of someone close, features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. The group is moderated by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.

A special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. It’s a place where you can be around people who understand what you are feeling. You’ll learn valuable information about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce. Registration begins Sep 10, the first day of class. $12 fee for materials
